We are a professional, friendly, knowledgeable and endlessly patient team. Our Principal, Capt. Michael Gauci and Chief Instructor of Malta Sailing Academy is a fully qualified RYA Yachtmaster Sail/Motor, a well know local yachtsman and an expert in all aspects of boat chartering and safety matters.
Malta Sailing Academy can provide Certified RYA courses which can be tailor made to fit the needs of you or your company.
All RYA courses are held in English. Our instructors will take great care in assisting you with understanding the tuition if English is your second language.
TM Nautical Licences courses are held in both Maltese and English.
Our fees are genuinely the total cost – there are no hidden or sudden extra charges.
All practical sessions can be taken on our Rib school boat or as ‘own boat tuition’ and have a maximum of 3 students to 1 Instructor, so there is plenty of time and opportunity for the Instructor to attend to your personal needs.
This course provides the skills and knowledge needed to drive a powerboat up to the ICC standard.
The International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is a certificate that is intended to provide evidence of competence when requested by officials in foreign countries.
This RYA First Aid course covers all the usual topics from a boating perspective. It is designed to give a working knowledge of First Aid to skippers and those using small craft.
The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and handheld equipment using International channels.
If you’re looking to get your RYA certificates commercially endorsed, you must have completed this course. The PPR will run students through scenario-based questions regarding the validity of different certificates in various situations.
