International Certificate of Competence – ICC

The International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft (ICC) is a certificate that is intended to provide evidence of competence when requested by officials in foreign countries. It is issued under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Inland Transport Committee Working Party on Inland Water Transport Resolution 40.

The certificate is issued with endorsements for different categories and is valid for five years from the date of issue. Once the certificates expire, you’ll just need to fill in a renewal form to revalidate your certificate.  This Certificate is valid for vessels up to 10m.

If you are a national of one of these countries and are resident in that country or another country on this list the RYA is not authorised to issue you with an ICC:

Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Ukraine
